August 2 at the evening.
We arrive in this national park, near to the largest Icelandic glacier: Vatnajökull.
This glacier, largest of Europe, makes approximately the size of Corsican and the ice by places can reach a thickness of 1 km. Volcanic irruptions take place under this glacier regularly.
In September 1996, an earthquake with caused a crack which crossed the glacier. It assembled magma there.
The ice with its contact melted, causing the appearance of a water tunnel which ran out in direction of the sea. The consequence was an enormous rising which destroyed the trunk road 1 and all the bridges present. The flow of water at this time there was of 20 times the flow of the Rhone… One thus did not have to be there!!!
We sleep in the pleasant camp-site present. There is world (for Iceland!!!). The next morning we envisage to go in Jökulsàrlon and to return in the afternoon to finish visiting Skaftafell.
Indeed it is rather difficult to sleep in Jökulsàrlon (there is no camp-site).

Time is again with beautiful. The sky is blue and the green landscapes. This greenery is finally rather rare in the island. One will notice the glacier behind - plane.
